FASPE Law Fellowship — Asara for Humanity Network

Applications open — FASPE Law Fellowship Program

A fully funded, immersive two-week fellowship in Berlin and Poland for law students and early-career lawyers to explore ethics, professional responsibility, and historical lessons.

Deadline: Jan 04, 2026 Donor: Fellowships for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) Category: Fellowship

Program overview

  • FASPE Law Fellows critically examine ethical questions in the legal profession through historical case studies and contemporary debates.
  • Topics include: the role of lawyers in systems of injustice, the gap between compliance and ethics, legal ethics in technology, multiple loyalties, and tactics for addressing ethical issues within institutions.
  • The fellowship combines expert-led seminars with visits to key historical sites related to Nazi history in Germany and Poland for an immersive learning experience.
  • Each cohort includes 13–16 outstanding law students and early-career lawyers selected nationally/internationally.
  • FASPE covers all program costs: roundtrip airfare (from the US to Europe as applicable), local transport, accommodation, group meals, program materials, and pocket money.

Eligibility & selection

  • Open to JD students (typically 2nd or 3rd year), early-career lawyers with JD earned after May 2019, or equivalent legal trainees/associates in jurisdictions where law is undergraduate.
  • FASPE seeks applicants who demonstrate leadership potential, self-reflection, and willingness to engage in challenging conversations.
  • Applicants are evaluated on academic achievement, professional promise, and capacity for thoughtful ethical engagement.

Application process

  • Submit the online application form, resume/CV, academic transcripts, short essay responses, and two letters of recommendation.
  • Letters of recommendation must be submitted directly by recommenders by January 9, 2026.
  • FASPE evaluates applications holistically; financial need is not a barrier — the fellowship is fully funded.
