Program Overview

  • Format: Two-week residential program with seminars and site visits in Berlin & Poland.
  • Participants: 13โ€“16 journalism students and early-career journalists selected annually.
  • Interdisciplinary exchange: Fellows engage with Medical and Clergy cohorts to broaden perspectives.
  • Fully funded: Roundtrip airfare, ground transport, hotel, meals, materials, and pocket money provided.

Who Should Apply

  • Graduate students enrolled in any program with journalistic experience and intent to work as journalists.
  • Early-career journalists who have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree and are employed in journalism.
  • Applicants typically have โ‰ค 10 years of professional experience and demonstrate promise as emerging leaders.
  • Open to candidates from diverse backgrounds, roles (reporters, editors, photojournalists, documentarians, multimedia storytellers), and contexts (local, national, international).

Selection Criteria

  • Academic background and evidence of journalistic practice (published or aired work preferred).
  • Professional experiences and demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Capacity to engage respectfully with difficult, controversial topics in small-group settings.
  • Ability to contribute meaningfully to the Fellowship and the alumni community.
