Applicants are invited to submit applications for the **IOC Young Reporters Programme** to develop the next generation of sports journalists.
Programme Overview & Benefits
- **Goal:** Develop the next generation of sports journalists globally.
- **Training:** Provides young professionals with hands-on training and mentorship in sports journalism.
- **Scope:** Equips participants with skills to cover major sporting events, including the Olympic Games.
- **Core Focus:** Intensive training in writing, photography, broadcasting, and social media.
- **Mentorship:** Participants are mentored by leading professionals in the sports media industry.
- **Logistics Covered:** The IOC will cover the cost of **economy airfares, all meals, twin-share accommodation**, and full tuition.
- **Accreditation:** Selected Young Reporters will receive an ‘E’ press accreditation to work and train in the Main Press Centre during the event.
- **Event:** The selected Young Reporters will be invited to participate in the programme in **Dakar in November 2026**.
Eligibility Requirements (as of 31 October 2026)
- **Age:** Must be aged between 21 to 25 years old.
- **Status:** Must be a student or a young professional in journalism, broadcasting, or photography.
- **Language:** Full proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Training and coursework will be conducted exclusively in English.
- **Submission:** Must provide a portfolio and references to support the application.
Training Modules & Specialisation
- **Journalism Cornerstones:** Training focuses on crafting compelling sports stories, producing news stories under tight deadlines, background detail research, and emphasizing accuracy, fairness, and journalistic ethics.
- **Photography:** Learning the art of sports imagery, including composition, editing, filing, and using the latest professional equipment.
- **Broadcasting:** Nuances of news stories, color stories, live coverage, interviews, crafting scripts, and editing.
- **Social Media:** Integration of social media, data analysis, and dedicated reporting on social media platforms.
- **Requirement:** All participants must complete **all modules** in text, photo, broadcasting, and social media, regardless of their specialization.
